Mr. Barry Blayney, a 76 year New Zealand national, has been found murdered in his home in Crooked Tree Village. He has been living in Crooked Tree Village for about 10 years and was operating a small grocery store.
This morning a neighbor, Fiona Building went to the shop to purchase some items and when she called out for him, he did not answer. Upon checking the unlocked house, Mr. Blayney was found with his arms bound behind his back and tape across his mouth. Robbery is believed to have been the cause and earlier this evening the police found some of the items from his shop behind some bushes in the area.
Three young men living (not native) in the village have been taken into custody by the police and the investigation continues.
Crooked Tree villagers remained in shocked as to why someone would do something like this.
"Be aware every morning that you may not last the day and every evening that you may not last the night."

So sad. Do they need to kill people? My God.
This is why I believe in capital punishment.
Shame, shame! How could they not have a policeman in Crooked Tree Village gov't don't think they need one!! Its been years no police station in the village. Crooked Tree needs protection too. This use to be a nice village. Not any more. Shame!! Shame!!
So sad, where we felt safe is no longer safe.
This is truly sad. Was he not in the news just a few months ago Linda?
Omg! So sad, i hope no one from there did it.
Lord, please keep my people safe and root out this evil from our village, in Jesus' name
Sad news, I hope this gets solved soon. What is happening to society?
This is crazy. How the hell police go take vacation and don't have someone to replace him.
Condolences to his family... The news of this senseless murder has saddened the villagers of CT but we must remain strong to overcome this and to look out for each other, our neighbors. God always take care of his own and I believe that Mr. Barry is in a better place with Ms. Molly and Mr. Dan and the other of our relatives and friends that had crossed over.
CT is a small village and we the villagers needs to take control in who is entering and leaving our village. We need to implement some sort of security system or something to make our villagers feel safe.
Don't be surprise if this is another UNSOLVED murder.Belize police is in shambles ,they are not crime fighters .
Sending prayer to his family and may he rest in peace!
This is so sad, our beloved village is no longer a safe haven.
I am so sorry to hear such bad news in Crooked Tree. my prayers goes out to his family and to the people of CT Village. This is so sad.
So sad...I hope that CT will start a neighborhood watch program if they haven't already.
This is unacceptable in our village. We cannot and must not tolerate these kinds of behavior in our village. We can and must take proactive action to prevent these things repeating themselves. I send my condolences.
Thank you for posting this Linda. I totally agree with everyone's feeling, and especially your sentiments Harun! Remember that "when darkness threatens to encroach upon light, it must be pushed back and stamped out immediately, less it engulf it and dwell in its place forever.
Senseless killing cold what happen to humans kindness in our village gone to the dogs
OMG! I remember when I was back home living with my grandparents, they used 2 leave their house door open all the time. But now they can't do that. They'll rob ur eye out of ur head, so sad! I personally think that most of the youngsters follow 2 much instead of being a leader nowadays. This just change my mind of ever going back 2 Crooked Tree 2 live.
I hope this open up the eyes of the Gov't and they finally put a police and station back in the village.
Wow sad to to hear that, I hope they find the person responsible and make a good example out if him/ her. A small village like CT does not need that nonsense.
Additionally, they are lazy scrums who doesn't want to work or even clean their yards!!! Rest in peace
This is so tragic - and sadly, part of a bigger phenomenon in which retired persons are specifically targeted for having a "fortune". It will negatively affect all those thinking about coming home to retire. Too many horror stories like this one.
Sad to see such evil done to an upstanding member of the community. The gov't should own up to it's core duty; guaranteeing the citizens' right to live in safety! We as citizens should also own up to our civic duty and speak up against crime.
This is so tragic, he picked our beautiful village of CT to retire and instead he was murdered. We do need a police presence there, this is just not acceptable and could happen again. RIP
Rest in Peace Uncle Barry. Lots of love, memories from your niece Louise.
