On the 31st anniversary of your independence, September 21, 1981, I wish to extend my warmest regards and congratulations.
This is a day when Belizeans from all walks of life come together to celebrate unity. I’m honored and blessed to have been born in a great country, although, like many countries, we certainly have our flaws. And while we will be celebrating, let's not forget the more than 100 people who have died this year from crime and violence. Let's find a way to end the violence, Belize and improve our economic conditions.
I also wish to extend my sincere good wishes to the prime minister, the Hon. Dean Barrow, on this special day; continued prosperity and most of all a peaceful future and a new tomorrow.
Belizeans at home and abroad, I know you will celebrate with pride!
