BELIZE RURAL HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL CAPTURES SILVER MEDAL IN PANAMA

The III Central American and Caribbean Scholar Games came to an end today in Panama City, Republic of Panama. Belize participated in girls’ softball, and came up with the Silver Medal today, when it loss a heart breaker to Venezuela by the score of 7-4.

This is the first time that Belize participated in the competition, and the result shows that it can compete with any of the countries in the Americas. Team Belize scored a total of 39 runs and gave up only 21. Venezuela finished with a perfect record in the competition with posted lopsided victories against Colombia and El Salvador. Venezuela’s true and only test in the competition was against the girls’ from Belize.

Belize advanced to the final round of the competition as the number one seed in its division defeated Guatemala by the score of 12-3 on Saturday November 19, and qualified to the playoffs when it defeated Panama on Friday November 18 by the score of 11-7.
